As we prepare for the Nubian Square Youth Ball, our recent site visit to the Bruce Bolling Building in Roxbury, MA, was instrumental in ensuring a successful event. Situated in the heart of Nubian Square, this venue is not only accessible but also familiar to us, facilitating smooth event execution.

Joined by my friend James Lambert, Third Exposure, we meticulously mapped out the event's setup. KJ from the Bruce Bolling graciously guided us through the venue, highlighting key areas. While exploring the 6th floor, we noted furniture adjustments beneficial for future events!!

On the 2nd floor, we visualized the layout for the DJ, photobooth, milkshake station, and coat check. Despite there being construction scheduled in a space near our event , we devised a workaround plan to ensure the event runs seamlessly.

We selected a space for our live podcast session and registration desks on the first and second floor. This year, we're implementing a two-point check-in process covering both floors, utilizing QR codes through our QR code center for efficiency. This year we have really doubled down on the communication between us and our volunteers to ensure we have a clear execution plan.

The site visit provided valuable perspective. The Bruce Bolling offers a small kitchen area, large rooms that can be split, round tables, square plastic chairs, 6ft tables, and more. While we're using the 2nd floor this year, the 6th-floor rooftop with a deck is perfect for summer events, offering a beautiful skyline view at night. Also, did I mention there is an elevator? Keep an eye out for the Nubian Square sky illuminated in red this Saturday, March 30, 2024, in celebration of the Nubian Square Youth Ball. Now, all that's left is to find the perfect pair of shoes for the ball!
