Remembering Michael Collins: A Tribute to a Beloved Community Member

At Meaningful Occasions, we were deeply saddened by the passing of Michael Collins in our community. As a human service agency, it is our mission to bring joy and positivity to the lives of children and families in the greater Boston area. This loss hit close to home and serves as a stark reminder of the challenges that our youth face every day.

Too many children are losing their lives to street violence in communities like Roxbury and Mattapan. It's heartbreaking to see young lives cut short due to gun violence, and we want to do our part in making a difference. That's why this February, we are hosting the Nubian Square Youth Ball to bring together youth from the community and provide them with a safe and fun-filled evening. We are thrilled to announce that organizations such as Black.Brown. Boston have generously donated 10 tickets to allow ten children to attend the Nubian Square Youth Ball.

But we don't want to stop there. We want to take it a notch up and do something even more meaningful for the community. That's why we have submitted a proposal to host and facilitate Michael Collins Day, a celebration of the life and legacy of this beloved community member. Michael was a member of the YPP cohort, and it is only fitting that YPP help us make this event a reality for the kids in the neighborhood.

We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping that our proposal is accepted. Our goal is to bring the community together in honoring Michael's memory and to help make a difference in the lives of the youth in our community. With your support, we believe that Michael Collins Day will serve as a testament to the love and kindness that he brought into the world.
